General frequently asked questions

What is the Calculator?

The Calculator is a system that takes you through the EC Regulation 261/2004 by means of easy to follow questions and immediately shows you if you are entitled to a compensation and/or reimbursement of your ticket. It also shows you the height of the possible compensation. After receiving a positive advice it is possible to file the claim with EUclaim.

I cannot add any documents to my claim. What should I do?

It is only possible to add documents that are less than 2MB each. If your documents are too large for the Calculator you can submit them by fax: +31 (0)575563042 or post: EUclaim, Arnhemsestraat 47, 6971 AP, Brummen, The Netherlands. After submitting your claim you will receive an automatic reminder via email to submit your documents.

I received a positive advice from the Calculator stating that I am entitled to a reimbursement of my ticket. What should I do next?

When the Calculator states that you are entitled to a reimbursement of your ticket you can file a claim directly with the airline. EUclaim only accepts claims whereby the passenger is entitled of a financial compensation as is specified in the Regulation 261/2004.

I have already received a voucher from the airline worth less than €125. Have I already received a financial compensation?

Regulation 261/2004 states that an airline must inform their passenger of their rights when faced with a cancellation, denied boarding or delay. If you have received a voucher without being informed of your rights you may still file a claim for the flight. Depending on the distance and arrival delay you could be entitled to a compensation between €125 and €600.

What documents are necessary to file a claim with EUclaim?

For EUclaim to process your claim correctly it is necessary to send copies of the passports of all the passengers, and a reservation where the flight number, passenger names and reservation or ticket number are clearly stated. Additional information such as boarding passes and letters from the airline are also important for your claim.
