Three-day strike by easyJet cabin crew to disrupt flights to and from Spain
These are your rights if your flight is cancelled
Are you flying with easyJet to or from Spain next week? There’s a good chance your flight will be cancelled or delayed.
This is because easyJet’s cabin and ground staff have announced a strike for Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 and Friday 27 June.
More than 650 airport employees in Barcelona, Málaga, Alicante and Palma de Mallorca will walk out for three days, resulting in the cancellation of 21 flights.
Spaniards earn 93% less than their Dutch counterparts
The strike is driven by demands for fair wages and improved working conditions. According to the Spanish trade union USO, easyJet employees in Spain earn significantly less than their counterparts in other countries.
The pay gap is striking: Spanish ground and cabin crew reportedly earn up to 93% less than colleagues in the Netherlands.
USO also points out that wages have not kept pace with rising living costs in Spain, a problem made worse by the fact that easyJet operates in four of the country’s most expensive cities.
