Strike in Belgium on Thursday 12 March

Flights cancelled to and from Brussels

Travellers to and from Belgium should expect major disruption on Thursday 12 March. Due to a national strike, no departing passenger flights will operate from Brussels Airport that day.

Some arriving flights to and from Brussels may also be cancelled. Brussels Airport says this decision was made in consultation with the airlines, as part of the security and ground handling staff will take part in the strike.

For passengers, this means that many flights to and from Brussels may be affected on Thursday. Travellers are advised to closely monitor their email and any updates from their airline regarding cancellations, rebooking options, or alternative travel arrangements.

Passengers affected by this strike will not be entitled to compensation under EU261, because this concerns a strike outside the airline itself.

In many cases, the airline must still offer assistance, such as rebooking or a refund of the ticket. What applies exactly depends on the route and the circumstances of the journey.
