easyJet strike in France on January 1, 2026

A one-day easyJet strike is planned in France on January 1, 2026. The action has been announced by the UNAC union and is linked to ongoing scheduling issues for cabin crew. While a complete shutdown is unlikely, passengers should expect possible delays and cancellations on flights to and from French airports, particularly early morning departures.
As this involves a strike by easyJet’s own staff, EU Regulation 261/2004 may apply. If a flight is cancelled or arrives more than three hours late due to the strike, passengers may be entitled to €250, €400 or €600 compensation, depending on flight distance. Regardless of compensation, travelers retain the right to care, including meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation if required.

easyJet cabin crew strike in Spain for three days

easyJet cabin crew have announced strike action on June 25, 26 and 27, impacting flights to and from popular Spanish holiday destinations. According to Spanish union USO, 657 crew members are participating, affecting 21 aircraft and routes to and from Barcelona, Alicante, Málaga and Mallorca.
The strike is driven by disputes over pay and working conditions. Passengers flying with easyJet to or from Spain at the end of June may face delays or cancellations and could be entitled to compensation.

Your right to care if your easyJet flight is delayed

If a strike causes unexpected disruption, you may find yourself stuck at the airport. When your easyJet flight is delayed by more than two hours, the airline must provide basic care, including meals and refreshments. If an overnight stay becomes necessary, hotel accommodation and transport must also be arranged.

You are not obliged to accept an alternative easyJet flight

In the event of a cancellation or long delay, easyJet must offer you an alternative flight at no extra cost. However, if the proposed option does not suit your travel plans, you are free to decline it.

Should you choose not to travel, the airline must refund your ticket. If you book a suitable replacement flight yourself and easyJet fails to offer a reasonable alternative, you may claim back the price difference.

Wait for confirmation from easyJet before rebooking

Although it may be tempting to arrange a new flight immediately, we recommend waiting until easyJet officially confirms the cancellation. If the strike is called off and your flight operates as planned, you could lose the money spent on a new ticket.

Compensation after an easyJet staff strike

When a strike involves the airline’s own staff, such as pilots or cabin crew, easyJet may be held responsible. Under EU Regulation 261/2004, this is generally not considered an extraordinary circumstance.

If your arrival is delayed by more than three hours or your flight is cancelled at short notice, you may be entitled to compensation. The exact amount depends on your flight distance.

Compensation is not linked to the price of your ticket. In some cases, the compensation amount may even exceed what you originally paid. The distance of your journey determines the amount.

Compensation amounts by flight distance

  • €250 for flights up to 1,500 km
  • €400 for flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km
  • €600 for flights over 3,500 km
