Flight disruptions due to strike Italy

Today, there is a general strike in Italy causing flight disruptions. The Air Traffic Control decided to go on strike between 11pm and 3pm local time.

Many flights are delayed or even cancelled due to the strike. It started at 11pm, but after a few hours half of the Air Traffic Controllers decided to postpone the strike until 3pm. They now plan to go on strike between 3pm and 5pm local time.  As you can imagine, and see on the map on the left, it’s causing chaos at Italian airports at the moment.

Keep an eye on your flight status if you plan to fly to Italy today! Unfortunately you are not entitled to compensation when your flight is delayed due to an ATC strike. The airline, however, does have to provide you with care (e.g. food, refreshments etc.)
