KLM strike update today: Schiphol Airport to face disruption on 24 September
The KLM strike in Amsterdam is set to cause major disruption at Schiphol Airport on Wednesday, 24 September 2025. Ground staff of the Dutch airline KLM will walk out between 06:00 and 12:00, forcing the cancellation of 119 flights.
This will be the third strike in just a few weeks, following earlier two- and four-hour walkouts this month.
Why are KLM staff planning to strike?
Unions FNV and CNV announced the action in protest against the collective labour agreement KLM signed with three smaller unions. They argue that the 14,000 ground workers will lose purchasing power, while pilots and cabin crew benefit from better pay and conditions.
The unions are escalating their actions: from two hours, to four, now six hours. On 1 October, another strike is planned lasting eight hours.
How the Schiphol airport strike will affect passengers
KLM has said that passengers affected by the strike will be automatically rebooked on alternative flights. However, due to limited capacity, this process may take longer than usual.
Travellers are advised to check their flight status regularly in the KLM app, My Trip, or on the KLM website.
