Lufthansa ground staff on strike in Germany

Get up to €600 compensation

Lufthansa ground staff in Germany will be on strike on Wednesday February 7. Passengers need to be prepared for delayed and cancelled flights. The strike is a result of a stalemate in wage negotiations and is the result of a call by the trade union Verdi.

The strike will start at 04:00 on Wednesday morning. It will affect the following airports

  • Frankfurt am Main
  • Munich airport
  • Hamburg airport
  • Berlin airport
  • Dusseldorf

The action is scheduled to last until 07:00 on Thursday morning.

Responsibility of Lufthansa

As this is a strike by Lufthansa staff, it is the airline that is responsible for any flight problems experienced by passengers. Passengers will therefore have the right to financial compensation. The amount can be up to 600 euros, depending on the distance of the flight.

Lufthansa’s expectation is that over a hundred thousand passengers will be affected by Wednesday’s action. For possible compensation, passengers who have been inconvenienced can submit a claim to EUclaim.
We are ready to assist affected passengers to obtain compensation for delays and cancellations.
