easyJet passengers told to wait eight decades for their re-arranged flight
easyJet flight 9485 was cancelled late at night, which the airline originally blamed on bad weather at Geneva Airport when passengers were sent an email saying: “We are writing to inform you that your flight will depart as 9485 at 11:00 local time on 29/07/2099.”
After realising the error easyJet apologised for any “significant inconvenience” the life long delay would cause and pleaded with passengers to “give them another chance in the future”.
The CAA said: “Because the delay is weather-related, it is unlikely compensation will be due, but that does not affect your rights to accommodation, food and phone calls.”
Under EU Regulation 261/2004 any passenger delayed more than three hours or on a cancelled flight is entitled to compensation if the delay was not due to “extraordinary circumstance”.
